Description

A Director of Activities in an assisted living facility is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing engaging recreational programs and activities tailored to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents. This role involves assessing resident interests and capabilities, organizing events, supervising activity staff, and maintaining a calendar of events that promotes wellness, fosters a sense of community, and enhances the quality of life. Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and implement a wide variety of engaging and meaningful activities for residents, ensuring the activities promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical wellness.

  • Assess resident needs, interests, and abilities to tailor activities that are suitable and enjoyable for all participants.

  • Coordinate with other departments and staff to ensure smooth delivery and operation of all activities and special events.

  • Maintain an updated activities calendar and communicate upcoming events to residents, families, and staff.

  • Oversee the setup, operation, and cleanup of all activities, ensuring spaces are safe and conducive to participation.

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers or activities assistants to support the successful execution of programs.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and programs by gathering feedback from residents, families, and staff, and making adjustments as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and best practices related to resident activities and engagement.

  • Manage the activities budget, sourcing and maintaining materials and supplies necessary for programs within financial constraints.

  • Create and maintain documentation related to resident participation, progress, and any incidents during activities.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging resident involvement and promoting a sense of community within the facility.

  • Stay informed on current trends and best practices in activities planning for seniors, continuously exploring innovative approaches to enhance the resident experience.
