Description

A Medication Technician in an assisted living facility is responsible for the accurate administration and management of prescribed medications to residents. This role involves preparing and administering medications according to physicians' orders, monitoring residents for potential side effects, and documenting all relevant information in residents' medical records. Additionally, the Medication Technician escorts residents to medical appointments, maintains medication inventory and storage, and collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure the well-being of residents. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and adherence to all relevant healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Responsibilities

• Administer Medications: Safely and accurately administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.

• Monitor Residents: Observe residents for potential side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report any issues to the nursing staff promptly.

• Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of medication administration and resident interactions in compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Communication: Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and the healthcare team regarding medication schedules, changes, and resident progress.

• Assist with Daily Activities: Support residents with daily living activities as needed, including hygiene, grooming, and mobility assistance.

• Inventory Management: Manage and track medication inventory, ensuring that supplies are ordered and stocked to meet resident needs without interruption.

• Compliance and Safety: Follow all regulatory guidelines and facility protocols to ensure the safe storage, handling, and disposal of medications.

• Education and Training: Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in medication administration and resident care.

• Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies calmly and efficiently, providing first aid and notifying the nursing staff or emergency services as required.

• Resident Advocacy: Advocate for residents' health and well-being, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care and respect.
